Nazak Nikakhtar’s practice focuses on international trade law matters, including antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings, export controls, international and bilateral trade agreements, customs matters, and trade policy and World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement. Ms. Nikakhtar regularly advises multinational corporations, U.S. trade associations and foreign governments on international business and policy issues, customs regulatory matters and valuation laws, and U.S. and foreign trade laws. She has extensive experience representing clients in the industrial, agriculture, chemical, and manufacturing sectors. Ms. Nikakhtar has successfully represented clients before the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. International Trade Commission, the U.S. Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Academia and Government Service

Ms. Nikakhtar has served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, where she has designed and taught law courses on WTO Dispute Settlement and Negotiations. Before entering private practice, Ms. Nikakhtar served at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration as a Special Assistant to the Senior Enforcement Coordinator of the China/Non-Market Economy Office. While in that position, Ms. Nikakhtar led numerous complex antidumping cases, advised on legal and regulatory matters related to the enforcement of U.S. trade laws, and participated in bilateral negotiations on trade issues between the United States and China. Ms. Nikakhtar also served at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security as an industry analyst, where she performed key statistical analyses for the U.S. government’s first official survey of the U.S. biotechnology industry.
