Eva Pander Maat

Trade and Climate Law Specialist / Brussels

As a Climate and Trade Law Specialist, Eva Pander Maat advises clients on all matters related to climate, environmental, energy and transport policy. She has particular experience in carbon pricing, international climate law, World Trade Organization (WTO) law compliance and EU supply chain due diligence. The scope of her work also includes EU regulatory matters and trade policy. 

Ms. Pander Maat holds a P.hD. in EU Law, where she researched EU climate measures with strong effects on international trade, such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the Renewable Energy Directive (RED). She has extensively published and presented work on EU law and climate and trade policy, as well as taught courses on EU law. 

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Pander Maat gained experience with the EU legislative procedure and international climate negotiations in DG CLIMA at the European Commission. She furthermore worked at a think tank on EU affairs, a Dutch law firm and a Dutch Embassy.

Government Service

Ms. Pander Maat previously served as a Blue Book trainee to the Principal Advisor on International Aspects of Climate Policy and as an atypical trainee in the Legal and Inter-Institutional Unit at the European Commission (DG CLIMA). She furthermore worked as a trainee at the Dutch Embassy in Tel Aviv.
