Mariela Ruiz is a Data Analyst in Cassidy Levy Kent’s Washington, D.C., office. Ms. Ruiz supports trade remedies matters. Working closely with other team members on all phases of proceedings, from pre-petition case analysis, preparing or reviewing questionnaire responses, formulating questions and arguments to the agencies, verification, and appellate practice. As a data analyst, she works on antidumping and countervailing duty (AD/CVD) proceedings before the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission, Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
After Ms. Ruiz earned her Master of Science in Business, she applied relevant coursework such as, but not limited to, accounting, business information system fluency, statistics for bioscience, effective negotiating, economic theory and policy, financial management, business writing, and business speaking. She began in the private sector working in the context of AD/CVD administrative review proceedings in stainless steel flanges from India.
She then worked as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Commerce as an International Trade Research Analyst and Evaluator (AD/CVD). There, she worked specifically within the Office of Enforcement and Compliance, where she gained experience in international trade proceedings for administrative reviews, changed circumstances review, sunset review, and scope remand. Ms. Ruiz worked on matters involving specific products in the oil and gas, chemical, and steel/fastener industries. Additionally, she supported the verification procedures in a market economy administrative review and a non-market economy changed circumstances review. Her experience in these numerous segments refined her skills in qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis using SAS, customs instructions, legal research, and comprehension of trade laws and regulations.
As a contractor, Ms. Ruiz received a certificate for outstanding support and exceptional reliability. Her ability to quickly learn and consistently deliver dependable results made her an asset to the client and team. She continues to apply the same dedication and strong work ethic in her current role, while continuously developing her skills to enhance support for our clients.
